We're finally packed for the big hike (to Havasu Falls, if you're not following along). Despite much effort and significant money spent on acquiring the lightest and most efficient equipment for our needs, I cannot believe at how heavy our packs are. SonofAzlib and I are in the 35-38# range, and WifeofAzlib and the two DaughtersofAzlib are in the 30-33# neighborhood. We're each carrying 5 liters of water (a bit more than recommended) which weigh about 11 pounds, so the packs should get lighter as we go on, but even still, they're starting out heavier than I had wanted.
